"One person's crazyness is another person's reality"- Tim Burton

Hello Everyone! This blog will focus on reviewing some of Tim Burtons famous movies. Tim Burton has been able to capture a view of the world in an amazing perspective. All of Tim Burtons movies have shared a common whimsical darkness. Tim has been able to create unusual characters that become loved by the viewers. I myself became a fan of Tim Burton while I was growing up. I fell in love with Pee-Wee's Big Adventure and Beetle-Juice. Little to my dismay he then created the phenomenal Nightmare Before Christmas and that was when Tim stole my heart. I admire Tim Burtons perspective on making the abnormal fit into normal. He creates characters that are lonesome and conflicted in their society and finds a way to make society fall in love with them.

Pee-Wee's Big Adventures

Pee-Wee's Big Adventure was created by Tim Burton in 1985. This movie was about a grown man child who gets his bike stolen in broad daylight. Pee Wee sets out to travel the United States to find his bicycle. The quirky and naive Pee-Wee resembles a cartoon character that one would see on television. Just as Tim Burtons other cartoon characters, Pee Wee shares the anti-social personality. Pee Wee resembles a happy go lucky child who is only fascinated by toys and not human relationships. In this movie Tim exposes Pee Wee to a busy, rude and short tempered American society. It is these types of generalization that I admire from Tim Burton. Tim Burton is not afraid to tell the world that people who do not seem to fit societies perspective on normal are the ones that are the most interesting and kindest.

Nightmare Before Christmas

Burton introduces the now famous Jack and Sally in The Nightmare Before Christmas. This movie was created by Tim Burton in 1993. This was one of Tim Burtons first romance cartoons. The main idea of this movie was to show how people or things that are often viewed as evil or bad do have a sense of goodness within them. He takes the ideas and symbolism of Christmas and Halloween to portray them as good vs. bad. What I enjoyed most about the plot was the idea of turning Halloween completely into Christmas failed. I liked how Tim Burton was able to show that being something you are not is not the answer to fit into society. Burton was able to turn the plot around have society welcome certain parts of the bad. The world can not always be of sunny days and sunflowers. Sometime we need the wicked weather and tornadoes to stir things up and keep them in balance.

Corpse Bride

The Corpse Bride was created by time Burton in 2005 with the two main characters being Victor and Emily. This romantic comedy set the stage for the usual love triangle; woman wants man, man wants another woman. In this cartoon, Burton focuses on the the typical love story of a young girl who is searching for her prince charming. The twist to it though is that she is dead. Burtons crazy ideas always astonish me! The amount of detail and attention placed into each scene was remarkable! I love the scenarios he creates and the beautiful story he allows to blossom from it. Victor was quick to judge poor Emily and felt nothing but disgusted with the idea of being married to her for the rest of his life. However as the story unfolds so does the love between both of these characters. This is another one of Burtons typical stories of the normal falling in love with the abnormal and I am fascinated with it!

Alice in Wonderland

Tim Burtons latest creation was the new version of Alice in Wonderland. Burtons twist to the traditional Disney cartoon added a dark edge to the movie. The visual abnormalities of the queen of hearts, the lonesome and complicated mad hatter along with the twisted world of depression and solitude was the great touches of Tim Burton. This was not the typical Disney movie a lot of viewers were expecting. To me, this movie was created for an older audience. I applaud Burtons creativity and his achievement on making a classic cartoon become an unbelievable creation!
